A WAKE UP CALL TO BLACK AMERICANS!
ACTIONS ARE TAKING PLACE TO STOP DIVERSITY IN THE WORKPLACE!
WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE OVER EFFORTS TO REVERSE THE PROGRESS WE MADE?
Revoking Many of the Equal Rights & Civil Rights Policies Enacted by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964 & 65 to enhance fairness and equality in the US as well as in the workplace. US. We feel the new executive orders were designed to stop the progress of people of color.! The President Has Launched a Vicious Effort to Diminish Diversity in the Federal Government and The Military! President Donald Trump used one of his first executive orders to end Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs in the federal government. This action includes putting all government DEI staff on leave, scrubbing all references to the practice from agency documents and websites, and ending affirmative action in awarding federal contracts. This action fulfilled a campaign promise the president made to his base to end what they viewed as “discrimination” against white people. Former President Joe Biden had directed several federal agencies to bolster their DEI initiatives to address long-standing inequities in hiring and contracting across the government, but President Trump quickly reversed those actions.
It is expected the current president will target private sector companies’ DEI programs next, although many companies, including Walmart, Ford Motor Company, and McDonald’s, ended their programs before Trump took office. The Virginia NAACP recently stated they were “deeply concerned” about Walmart’s actions, given the retailer is the largest private employer of Black Americans and of the nation overall. The administration also sent a letter to all military commands directing them not to implement or participate in programs that address or highlight diversity or special groups. The letter stressed that members are permitted to attend these events, but outside of official duty hours. Some of the prohibited events are Black History Month, Asian American and Pacific Islander month, Hispanic Heritage Month, ect. It should be noted that historically the military has been the institution where societal issues and changes were tried and tested prior to implementation into the daily life of Americans.
You are encouraged to contact your Congressperson, U.S. Senator, and state and local officials to let them know you want them to pass meaningful legislation protecting diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in both the public and private sectors, which will also strengthen the economy for all.
Where is the outrage? Where is the groundswell of resistance? Where are the politicians, social leaders, church leaders, fraternities, sororities, and other like minded members of society to express their destain for the President’s attack on equal rights and civil rights!
We cannot forget the tremendous sacrifices made by our ancestors to ensure these rights were made available for us to enjoy. We cannot sit back and wait for someone else to defend us. Medgar Evers, Martin
L. King & Malcolm X gave their lives for us! People marched, bled and died for us! John Lewis was beaten on the Pettus Bridges for us! So, what are we going to do to ensure the next generation have the rights and opportunities we had? In other words, we can’t depend on others to stand up for us if we don’t first stand up ourselves!
